Just what it means. You're dead and any other events that happened are recorded as well - so if you run DCG and "resurrect" yourself by hitting the "Generate Mission" button, you're a newbie again but the campaign is where you left it when you died.
bullet onelifecrisis on Saturday 06 September 2008 - 12:39:11
That's from the "IL2 DCG Menu" page...
bullet onelifecrisis on Saturday 06 September 2008 - 11:47:18
Stats Reset on Death: if check if the player dies in Career mode, his pilot statistics will be reset to zero and any other events that happened that mission will be recorded. If unchecked, the mission can be reflown without penalty as if it never happened.
bullet Lowengrin on Saturday 06 September 2008 - 11:37:59
What bit is that?
bullet onelifecrisis on Saturday 06 September 2008 - 08:52:30
OK, but what about the bit that says the mission results are recorded? What does that mean?
bullet Lowengrin on Saturday 06 September 2008 - 08:48:38
It works the same in all modes. You die in the off-line campaign with "Stats Reset On Death", you're dead. Even if you refly the mission, it's too bad, your stats are already reset.
bullet onelifecrisis on Saturday 06 September 2008 - 03:46:02
Oh, wait a minute... both my brain cells just bumped into each other... do I need to untick Primary Objectives for it to work?
bullet onelifecrisis on Saturday 06 September 2008 - 03:42:43
Paul, I'm confused again - this time with the Stats Reset On Death option! Does this option work the same in all DCG modes? In Auto or Full Auto, will it reset all my (in-game) kills, medals, and so on? Also, IL2 refuses to allow me to "Apply" a mission in which I died... yet the documentation says DCG will record the events of the mission in which I died? I can't get my head around that... I mean when I click Refly, everything is back as it was before the mission... nothing seems to have been recorded.
bullet Lowengrin on Thursday 04 September 2008 - 18:26:33
The first place to look for that information is in the documentation section of this website. Look for Tailspin's document which is a pretty good overview.

Hi Mr Lowengrin

First of all, Thank You for this site. I presume that you are the only one that knows how to add the new maps? I would really like to help out with it., if I know how to add them .

If I had unlimited time and resources, I'd say yes, but the fact is, I hardly have time to keep up with the official maps.
bullet Treetop64 on Tuesday 02 September 2008 - 23:11:00
Not sure on your feelings about the situations with the mods, but there are some rather fantastic new maps being created by the community. Two good ones in particular is the Italy/Med/North Africa map, and the Kursk Map in progress wihic covers the entirety of the Kursk salient area and all the nearby cities. The 'Slot' map comes to mind as well.

Anyway, will there be some new DCG campaigns based on these new maps?

Thanks!
bullet Lowengrin on Tuesday 02 September 2008 - 18:38:59
Add a new squadron with C47s. That should do it.
bullet tomaz99 on Tuesday 02 September 2008 - 18:31:22
That might be the problem, no allied columns or C47s appear at any time during the campaign (Normandy US 42).There haven't been any since the start of the campaign either at the Brit island or at Octeville.
bullet Lowengrin on Tuesday 02 September 2008 - 18:26:47
Defenses should regenerate when a truck column, supply ship, train, or transport plane is present. I don't see why they aren't regenerating - there should be plenty of C47s around.
bullet tomaz99 on Tuesday 02 September 2008 - 17:01:57
Roger that, I'll give it a shot, thanks. One last point; the enemy airfields and other locations are defended by AA but my home base (i.e. the island) is totally undefended. I have to place AA manually after each mission is generated. Is there a setting within DCG that will give AA to friendly fields? Thanks again.
bullet Lowengrin on Monday 01 September 2008 - 20:32:28
Try running DCG and going to the Ground War Editor panel. In the location dropdown, select Octeville. Then in the allegiance dropdown, select allied. Should fix the problem.
bullet tomaz99 on Monday 01 September 2008 - 19:45:55
Further to my last, we're playing the Normandy 42 as US and we had Octeville as our base simply because the island base is SO crowded. Landing on the extra airstrip is a nightmare due to the 'step' from the runway to the surrounding terrain. Not sure why Oleg has that extra strip so thick. Anyway, we'll bash on, I guess I can just change Octeville to being back under Allied influence etc.
bullet tomaz99 on Monday 01 September 2008 - 19:43:44
I tried placing tanks on the airfield (they knocked out the remaining AA there) but when the next mission was generated the frontlines hadn't changed at all.
bullet Lowengrin on Monday 01 September 2008 - 19:31:45
Wiping out a location is only half the battle. The other half is to ensure you have some ground troops (tanks/trucks) roll in to capture it.

There's no way to modify the default skins on static aircraft.
bullet tomaz99 on Monday 01 September 2008 - 17:16:33
Is there any way at all to modify the 'default' skins for static aircraft? Thanks.
bullet tomaz99 on Monday 01 September 2008 - 17:15:53
We lost an allied airfield, how do we recapture it? We wiped it out last mission but it didn't affect the frontlines at all.
bullet Lowengrin on Wednesday 06 August 2008 - 18:30:24
With auto mode (or any mode really), you can go and change your plane. You don't need to ever use the default.
bullet onelifecrisis on Tuesday 05 August 2008 - 21:27:33
I re-installed everything and now Full-Auto mode is working as well! It must have been my fault although I don't know what I did wrong the first time round. One oddity I'm still getting is that in Full-Auto mode, RAF-Normandy 41 starts me off in a Hurricane MkII, but in Auto mode we get MkI's (and we get slaughtered ). Other than that, both modes are working the same now. Sorry for filling your forum with problems that were apparently my fault! &| Cheers
bullet Lowengrin on Tuesday 05 August 2008 - 18:22:24
Other than the briefing and campaign screens, the two modes are exactly the same. Bizarre that it works only in the one.
bullet onelifecrisis on Monday 04 August 2008 - 22:25:50
Paul, good news. I deactivated Full-Auto Generation (IL2DCG restored DGen) and tried Auto Generation mode instead. Now everything works! The English Airstrip AND English Airbase are both present and working correctly. Furthermore my squadron consistently rendevous with bombers and escort them properly, and the Mission Complete/Over messages appear at the correct time (when Primary Objectives are enabled). I don't know why Full-Auto mode isn't happy on my PC but this will do me just fine! Now that I've had a few properly-working missions I've realised just how screwy my previous missions were in all sorts of minor ways, but now I've seen it working properly I must say this is a really excellent piece of work and thank you very much! I have one (hopefully final) question: using Auto mode, what will I miss out on compared to Full-Auto mode (apart from the debrief screens)? Cheers, OLC
bullet onelifecrisis on Sunday 03 August 2008 - 15:17:29
Understood, thanks.
bullet Lowengrin on Sunday 03 August 2008 - 07:32:13
If you think the stutter is planes spawning, you could uncheck the "Delayed Starts" option BUT make sure you then have the "Air Starts" option checked. This will make all the flights spawn at the beginning of the mission.
bullet onelifecrisis on Sunday 03 August 2008 - 01:36:13
Hi Paul. I have yet another question - about performance. I've been playing on the normandy map with DCG maxed out (Full everything, Air Starts, Delayed Starts, etc) and the framerate is fine except that once every minute or two the game freezes for a second, briefly stutters, then comes back to life. As you can imagine, this can b quite frustrating when it happens just as my shot is lining up 8-/ Would I be right in thinking that this is probably caused by flights spawning? If so, which setting should I change to reduce the 'loading lag' without reducing the overall number of planes if possible (or, failing that, reducing the overall number as little as possible). Thanks again!
bullet Lowengrin on Tuesday 22 July 2008 - 22:07:50
Have you any idea what the maximum distance you can have before the AI stops reacting? Knowing that would allow me to add "filler" waypoints as required.

The idea about units that have broken through is a good one. Yes, I could up their priority.
